Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I was a young, adventurous, carefree, risk-taking, some would say "mindless or stupid" individual. Just a normal teenager really! I had a passion for handling vehicles and machinery and in particular, loading and unloading vehicles and machinery on and off trucks or trailers. This is where my interest in "loading ramps" came in. Only now do I look back with an air of amusement and even horror at some of the highly dangerous and foolhardy instances that occurred.
Loading a 10 ton excavator up a pair of rusty old homemade ramps that collapsed completely and sent the machine toppling onto it's side.
Driving a car up narrow wooden ramps onto a truck. All very straight forward and simple on a good day but this day it was raining and the wooden ramps were very wet and very slippery. I tried umpteen times to load that damned car and each time I would of course loose grip and slide back down. Giving up was not an option for me and so I went back and took a long run up and sped up the ramps and onto the truck and managing to stop with a slide but little contact with the front of the truck body. Looking back I had an amazing amount of luck doing that and by rights there should have been a serious incident.
Now I am much older and much wiser and although I still have the occasion to use loading ramps, I now use the correct ramps for the job. That is, ramps that are professionally made specifically for a given use and with the correct weight carrying capabilities.
My interest in loading ramps continues but now I sell them via my online loading ramp store. No I don't sell old rusty ramps or slippery wooden ones, but new purpose made ramps from top quality manufacturers.
It is quite amazing just how many different uses for ramps there are and I sell most types. I am adding new ramps frequently to my store but there are already: Car Ramps - ATV Ramps - Motorcycle Ramps - Dog Ramps - Pickup Truck Ramps - Heavy Duty Ramps - Wheelchair Ramps - Multipurpose Ramps - Garden Tractor Ramps - Golf Cart Ramps - Boat Ramps.
Then there are so many types of ramp: Tri-fold, Bi-fold, Telescopic, Service, Display, System, Aluminum, Steel, Economy, Dual, Arched, Extra wide, Portable, to mention just some.
